20 ALSHABAAB MILITANTS KILLED

20 suspected Alshabaab militants have been killed by police officers in elwak area in Mandera county.

interior Cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki confirmed the incident while touring Turkana county.

The police officers were on their daily patrol when they were confronted by the militants.

In the incident , 5 police officers lost their lives.Eight other police officers were injured and rushed to hospital.

This comes hours after CS Kindiki announced a hault in the reopening of the Kenya somalia boarder.

This is as a result of a surge in the cases of suspected Alshabaab attacks. Upon the opening of the boarder , there were several attacks linked to the militants claiming over 20 lives, in North Eastern region and Lamu county. Several police officers have also lost their lives in earlier attacks.
