EACC arrest cops over bribery

EACC cops have arrested four police officers along Outering Road Nairobi for taking bribes from the public.

The four were arrested at quarry stage. The arrest was conducted after EACC officials received information from the public that they were experiencing traffic police officer publicly collecting bribes from both private and public vehicles.

EACC states that the cops had collected an amount of ksh 15,410 in just two hours. A large amount of the money was in terms of 50,100 and 200 notes.

The police officers collected the money through various ways including , some motorists put the amount in the driving license or dropped the money on the floor or placed the money on the car handles for the officers to collect. Motorists said this brought traffic jam on the busy road.

The four were detained at the EACC center integrity police station to aid in investigation before being allowed to leave at a bail of ksh 10000 each.They now await approval from the DPP to be arraigned in court.
