Former chief justice has criticized the interior Cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki and attorney general Justine Muturi over the Saba Saba arrests.
Mutunga questioned why the police officers arrested protestors rather than protecting them.
Willy in his opinion said Kindiki and Muturi had failed in their role as they ought to have advised the IG Japeth Koome on how to handle those protesting.
He said that the constitution allows anyone to demonstrate and picket and that it was the police role to protect them.
Several activists were also driven out of a police station in Nairobi after they criticized the police for arresting protestors. The police used teargas canisters to disperse the activists.
