Johnson Sakaja sentenced to three months in prison

Just hours after being reported missing, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja resurfaced and recorded a statement at the police yesterday. After which he resigned from the Committee he was chairing.

Today however, Tuesday morning, he was convicted and sentenced after pleading guilty to neglecting Covid19 rules meant to help curb its further spread

The Youthful senator appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Roselyn Oganyo. He never denied any of the charges against him.

Due to this, a sentence for such an offense committed is Ksh. 20,000 or 6 months in prison, the senator’s sentence was the option of paying a fine of Ksh.15,000 or serving 3 months in prison.

This was after his team of lawyers led pleaded for leniency terming it as a first time offender and had expressed remorse for his actions.
