Nimrod Mbai was on Tuesday arrested after a viral video captured him on Monday assaulting a KPLC official.
The member of Parliament appeared in the viral video beating up a Kenya power official. He was seen attempting to take his firearm.
The Mp was later released on Wednesday evening with a police cash bail of ksh 50,000. He awaits being arraigned in court for assault cases.His firearm was also withdrawn by security officers.
Fellow KPLC workers protested in kitengela area in kajiado county over the assault of one of them.
Kenya Power managing director and chair of the board condemned the incident stating that all those who assault their workers will face the law.
The assaulted KPLC official was on duty disconnecting illegal power connection to the MPs house. Similar crackdowns to disconnect illegal power connections are being spearhead by Kenya power all over the country.
