Kenya had continued to receive more terror attacks from the suspected al shabaab group. On Sunday morning, at least 10 General Service Unit (GSU) officers were injured after they were attacked by the militants in Lamu near Boni forest.
The GSU officers are from the Pandanguo GSU camp .The armored vehicle they were in ran over an Improvised explosive Device (IED).The device is suspected to have been planted on the road by the al shabaab. They were attacked when they were in their normal patrol.
The vehicle rolled over after which the al shabaab came from the Boni forest to attack the officers.A KDF response team arrived soon but it was also ambushed. However there were no casualties.
This comes days after interior Cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki toured the area for three days in an attempt to find solution to the rising terror attacks from the terror group.Cs Kithure affirmed the residents safety assuring Kenyans that security was tightened all over.
He said that the government had set aside ksh 20 billion in order to buy more advanced weapons for the soldiers.
At least 12 people were killed last week by the suspected group in Garissa and Lamu counties. The Kenya somalia boarder has continued to receive most attacks. It was suspected that the militants group would launch an attack in the area.
