NAIROBI’S PEAK HOUR THEFT


Cases of theft and passengers being thrown out of matatus by touts have been on the rise in Nairobi area along Thika road.

A recent case of Thursday June 22 saw one passenger being hurled out of a Matatu.The commuter explained that he had boarded the matatu at 6:00 am at KCA University bus stop.

He found four other “passengers ” in the matatu , one was seated with the driver and the other with the conductor. He explained that the conductor and the driver collude with the thugs to execute their plans .

They sped past Utalii hotel when one of the passengers ordered him to surrender his belongings including his phone and wallet. He tried to resist but the other passengers behind him threatened him with crude weapons.

He surrendered his items and then the passengers on board threw him out of the speeding vehicle. He was lucky to survive unhurt.He reported the incident to Muthaiga Police Station. He said that he has seen the same vehicle three times on the same route after his ordeal.

He asked the security officers to apprehend the culprits. He asked Kenyans to be aware of the vehicle that plies the route during rush hours.He is just one of the many victims along thika road who have lost their property during the peak hours
