Ugandan president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has on wednesday cofused his citixens in his position regarding the LGBTQ .Musweveni recently signed a law that anyone caught being a homosexual would face imprisonment and a death penalty.
Museveni expalined on wednesday that after having a meeting with the medical practitioners,he concluded that homosexuality was a condiion brought by psychological disorders. He further stated that anyone with such a disorder needed help and not a punishment.”This conclusion gave us a way forward, if someone is a victim, is it right to punish them? No, they need help. The law now says a homosexual will not be criminalised if he/she keeps his/her being to himself but will be arrested if he goes and recruits others into it,” Museveni said.
Museveni said that deciding whether to become a homosexual was a personal problem and not criminalized but recruiting others into it was illegal and punishmenable. This left even more people confused.Museveni remains firm on his decision aagainst the LGBTQ despite being pressurized by the United states to allow it in his country.
