President Ruto was shocked after residents from Githunguri constituency jeered at him .He realized that the residents stood firm behind their member of Parliament, Gathoni Wamuchomba.
Gathoni voted against the bill last week. She echoed the voice of many kenyans who said the bill will just suppress them even more. She was vocal on her choice to vote against the bill despite being a member of the UDA party led by William Ruto.
During a meeting in Githunguri, Gathoni openly said she would not accept any intimidation from anyone regarding her choice of opposing the bill. She said this in the presence of president Ruto, his deputy Gachagua and the leader of majority Kimani Ichung’wa.
However when the president rose to give his speech, he criticized those who voted against the bill..He said that the MPs who were given the office by the residents did not want to get a cut from their hefty salary to allow the housing program.
He posed a question to the residents if the decision by the Mp really represented the residents wish. It was clear to Ruto that the residents too opposed the bill and did not support the housing program. The residents firmly stood behind their MP’s decision.Ruto experienced some uproar from the residents.
