President Ruto Defends Moses Kuria


The media fraternity was shocked by president Ruto’s statement over Trade Cabinet secretary Moses Kuria against the media.

The CS criticized the media precisely insulting the Nation media group. The embattled CS accused the media house of turning into an opposition party. This was after Ntv did a story showing how Kuria aided in corruption involving oil importation.

In his statement today in Naivasha, president Ruto said that everyone has a freedom of speech. He said that the media has its freedom to report whatever it felt like reporting further asserting media’s independence.He however said that individuals too had a right to express their views about media houses in whatever manner they felt like.

Ruto asked who would defend him from what he termed as the “rougue media”, if he called out the cabinet secretary .He claimed that he also “goes through hell” from the same media.The seemingly unsympathetic Ruto said.

Ruto said that he had seen one journalist asking him to protect the media from Moses Kuria. He agreed to play his part.He questioned who would do the same for him if the media criticized him . He said that there ought to be fair balance .
