Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua graced the graduation ceremony at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology ( JKUAT) on Friday 23rd June 2023.
In his speech to the graduates he said the government does not have jobs to offer them. Instead , they would collaboratively create the jobs; the government in conjunction with the graduates.
In his statement he said ” I am an honest man. I don’t want to sit here and lie to you that we have jobs for you .These jobs we are going to create together with you.”
He added that the Kenya kwanza members of Parliament put up a spirited fight to pass the housing fund which would create jobs for many kenyans. In his statement he said that the graduates will be the main beneficiaries of the housing fund.
The DP said that 200,000 houses would be constructed every year from which building engineers , architects and plumbers would come from the graduates.
Giving his advice to fresh graduates , he said that life was not simple but they would get there bit by bit . He emphasized on the sacrifice done by their parents to see them sail through the institution of higher learning and asked them to keep the spirit up.
